Campari Spritz #SummerCocktails

We celebrated our friend Cathy's birthday here on Memorial Day.  The group that gathered is traveling to Italy in September so I decided to kick things off with a Campari Spritz.

Cheers.  We are celebrating Summer Cocktails.......

Michelle of Our Crafty Mom invited us to join her in celebrating Summer with some cocktails.  I'm always up for some new cocktail recipes.

Many of you may have heard of or enjoyed an Aperol Spritz.  This cocktail has gained in popularity in recent years.  I first enjoyed them when I was in Europe last year, but found that I prefer the bold bitterness of Campari.  The flavor profile is similar, however, Aperol is lighter in taste, bitterness, and alcohol content.

Campari is best known as part of the Classic Negroni cocktail.  I also enjoy it as an aperitif on the rocks with club soda.  Are you a fan of bitter?  Campari will make you very happy.

Let's take a look at the other Cocktails being served up today........

This sparkling drink is a wonderful way to greet your guests this summer.  It is refreshing and bright.  I use a dry (brut) sparkling wine, but the bitterness of the Compari, lends itself very well to a sweeter sparkling wine if that is more to your taste.
